Exhibits

Currently in the 401 Gallery

An exhibit of 25 finely detailed illustrations by artist David ‘RC’ Oster will be on display through December 31, 2021. The artist will join us in the gallery on November 27 and again on December 11 to speak about how his skills have developed over the course of his life. To demonstrate those changing skills, Oster will have on hand some of his earlier works.

Oster is well known for his free-hand ink drawings of barns, older buildings, and architectural landmarks. “These buildings helped bind our communities together. And not only are they historically significant, but they are aesthetically important as well, for they are unique and artistic in design; hardly any two are exactly alike,” shares Oster.

The illustrations also include historic roller coasters, as well as those that exist only in the mind of the artist but have been brought to life on paper by his hand.

Hours: Thursday – Saturday, 12 – 4 p.m.

Coming in 2022

February 15 – March 15:

MVCA is proud to celebrate Youth Art Month once again. This annual forum to emphasize the value of art education for all children is sponsored nationally by the Council for Art Education, Inc. and is endorsed by the National Art Education Association and here in NY by the NYS Art Teachers Association. MVCA showcases the artwork of participating Herkimer County students and art teachers both. We are pleased to help achieve the goals of Youth Art Month to increase community understanding and interest in art and to encourage commitment to the arts by students and community organizations. For more information visit the New York State Art Teachers Association website.

April 24 – May 31

An exhibition by John Fitzsimmons, who categorizes his three distinct bodies of work as Figurative Painting, Etchings, and Nature Paintings. A native of Central New York and graduate of the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Fitzsimmons continued to paint and draw after graduation, but his life took a different direction. To learn more about the artist’s path from past to present, visit his website.

Please check back often on the MVCA website for updates.
