On December 28th, the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts was saddened to learn of the death of Jane Malin who led the growth of the MVCA from November 4, 2015 through July 19, 2021.

Jane was a lifelong resident of Dolgeville, active in the community ranging from leading the Church Choir at Emmanuel Episcopal in Little Falls, to her last position as Executive Director of the Mohawk Valley Center of the Arts before retiring.

During her tenure Jane brought more opportunities into the community – performing arts, more classes and kids’ workshops, STEAM programs, Youth Art Month, Art for Health, dance, music lessons and more.  In 2021, MVCA inherited a healthy organization, which has continued to grow under the leadership of our Director, Mary Ellen McGillan.

We will remember Jane for her kindness and love of life.  She was welcoming to all, easily approachable and not judgmental.  Jane always had time for you.  She encouraged the volunteers.  She welcomed visitors and made them feel comfortable.  We thank her for her leadership and, most of all, we thank her for her friendship and love.
